THE EVOLUTION OF COMPETITIVE SOCIALISING

In recent years, a clear trend has emerged in the social landscape: competitive socialising. This phenomenon combines new experiences and entertainment with the joy of spending quality time with friends and loved ones. Our newest team member, Arshaq, shares why competitive socialising is top of his to-do list.

“Over the past few years, competitive socialising has completely transformed how we spend time with friends, family and colleagues. It’s a new era of fun and connection. I’ve found that combining friendly competition with social interaction is the perfect way to create memorable experiences.

Whether it's traditional activities like bowling and darts or more modern twists like axe-throwing, life-size Monopoly or virtual reality simulators, competitive socialising offers a whole new world of excitement. For me, it’s about getting involved — no more just sitting around; I’m actively participating.

With so many pop-up options, you can find yourself in unique destinations doing these activities. Archery in an empty retail unit? Tick. Canal side crazy golf? Yes, please. These activities are revitalising and enhancing spaces.

The food is a huge part of the experience too. I’ve noticed that venues offering competitive socialising pay close attention to their menus, making sure they’re quick, easy to eat, and shareable. After all, when you’re in the middle of a game, you want food that’s both delicious and convenient.

It’s easy to see why these experiences are so Instagrammable. Cool venues, great locations, unique cocktails and immersive design – the aesthetic is almost as important as the activity itself.

What I love about competitive socialising is how it encourages connection. We’re all engaged in games and challenges that spark friendly rivalry and bring everyone together. Whether we’re celebrating a win or laughing over a near miss, those moments stick with me.”
