Event production has become the real star of the show at events and festivals. Our Senior Events & Project Manager, Jamie, shares how this has evolved and why the impact is worth the investment.

“As someone who loves festivals, one of the biggest shifts I’ve noticed over the past few years is the growing emphasis on stage production. It’s no longer just about who’s behind the decks or headlining the main stage — it’s about how the whole environment is crafted around the performance.
Take Gala Festival, in Peckham Rye, for example. Every year they push the boundaries of curation and design, creating beautifully considered stages that feel immersive and intentional. It’s not just lights and sound anymore — it’s full-scale visual storytelling. And it’s this level of detail that’s setting a new standard across the scene.
Festivals like Glastonbury have long been known for their iconic stages, but others are catching up. Wilderness Festival introduced The Riddle in 2024 — an intimate, immersive stage experience that felt more like a club within a festival. That’s where the industry is heading: unique, multi-sensory spaces that elevate the performance beyond just the music.
Of course, this evolution comes with a cost. Tickets are going up, and while I’d love a cheaper day out, it’s clear that part of that increase is being invested into production value.
It’s exciting to see festivals and events embracing this change. We’re in an era where people want more than just a DJ set — they want an experience. And as a fan, that makes every ticket worth that little bit more.”
